Maintenance Techs for Carp. – Hollandia Produce/ Pete’s

Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs the property and equipment.
Performs and provides assistance in the installation, adjustment, maintenance, part replacement, and
repair of tools, equipment, machines, and buildings. Executes various projects while creating minimal
interference with production departments and processes.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Observes safety protocols and if applicable, manufacturer’s instructions when performing tasks.
  • Performs maintenance tasks to ensure maximum machinery and equipment uptime.
  • Documents all preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), and other maintenance tasks performed by him/her.
  • Communicates with the Ops Manager regarding equipment and job status and previous, ongoing, and future repairs and improvements.
  • Collaborates with outside contractors while they are working in the facilities.
  • Performs minor repairs to building fixtures, performs minor plumbing repairs, cleans electrical fixtures and replaces bulbs, and performs touch up painting.
  • Disassembles broken or defective equipment in order to facilitate repair; reassembles equipment when repairs are complete.
  • Transfers tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from workstations and other areas.
  • Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Applies protective materials to equipment, components, and parts in order to prevent defects and corrosion.
  • Assembles and maintain physical structures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Cleans or lubricates vehicles, machinery, equipment, components and parts to prevent defects,and to ensure proper functioning.
  • Installs or replaces machinery, equipment, and new or replacement parts and instruments, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Searches for, and reports to Ops Manager, any machinery, equipment, building and facility improvements while performing maintenance on them.
  • Keeps equipment and work area safe, clean and orderly.
  • Performs all tasks with minimal interference with production department processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Manager.

Required Skills:

  • Basic experience with machinery, electrical, construction and plumbing
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus

Class A- Truck Driver- Hollandia Produce/Pete’s

Job Summary: This position is dedicated to driving to the L.A. Produce Market area. The driver is
responsible for loading and securing load. Driving duties include daily vehicle inspections.
Standard working hours are 12:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL Class A, clean driving record; pass DOT physical and drug screen
  • Minimum of 1 year experience driving a 53 ft. trailer
  • Operate a pallet jack

Class A- Transfer Truck Driver- Hollandia Produce/Pete’s

Job Summary: This position is dedicated to driving to and from our two facilities (Oxnard &
Carpinteria). The driver is responsible for loading and securing load. Driving duties include daily
vehicle inspections. Standard working hours are Monday- Friday, 10:00 A.M. to 6:30 P.M., and
Saturday, 8:00 A.M. -12:00 P.M.

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL Class A, clean driving record; pass DOT physical and drug screen
  • Minimum of 1 year experience driving a 53 ft. trailer
  • Operate a pallet jack

Grower Manager- Oxnard

Job Description: The Grower Manager will excel in growing hydroponic crops of the highest quality in the most efficient way, in
collaboration with other production team members. Experience with organic hydroponic growing is a plus.

The Grower Manager will be working with the growing team while fostering a positive environment of respect
and safety for his/her people, our customers and the environment.

The Grower Manager must be able to work independently and collaboratively, performing multiple-level
projects in conjunction with his/her daily activities.

Responsibilities may include:

Crop Management

  • Knowledge of climate and irrigation management
  • Knowledge of crop nutrient requirements, acceptable growing ranges and conditions
  • Knowledge of organic and conventional fertilizers, macro and micro nutirents, EC, pH and dissolved oxygen requirements
  • Knowledge of germination and propagation parameters and requirements
  • Knowledge/ability to analyze a crop in the field and in conjunction with lab reports to determine plant deficiencies/toxicities and make adjustments accordingly
  • Knowledge/ability to forecast crop yields, cycle times, and adjust fertilizers, equipment, and techniques preemptively to ensure the top-quality crops

Greenhouse Management

  • Comfortable around standard greenhouse equipment, including water pumps, air compressors, heaters, water boilers, injectors, moveable gutters, conveyor belts, seeding equipment, Reverse Osmosis, etc. Able to repair or at least troubleshoot in the field.
  • Knowledge of proper greenhouse climate control systems (ideally Priva, Argus, or equivalent) to
    combat adverse climates and like extreme cold, heat, dry or wet weather to maintain consistent growing conditions

Pest and Disease Management

  • Able to scout for pests and diseases, and train others to do so effectively
  • Able to plan for and maintain an IPM program, including preventative sprays for both insects and plant diseases, record keeping, reporting, storage, and spray equipment maintenance

Personnel Management / Collaboration

  • Crew management, supervising, training, and coaching team members
  • Resolving employee issues/complaints
  • Efficient use of labor to complete work consistently and predictably
  • Work alongside Production department to maintain smooth and consistent operations, consistent crop availability
  • Work alongside Maintenance department to ensure a functional and effective greenhouse
  • Communicate with superiors and subordinates clearly, openly, and honestly
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills

Other

  • Participate in the company’s Research and Development projects related to growing and equipment
  • Familiarity with organic certifying bodies (CCOF or equivalent) and the requirements/standards of the
    verifying body a plus
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and be creative in establishing new programs to continue improvements across all areas of Growing influence
  • Develop and trouble shoot our expanding organic program
  • Maintain records pertaining to growing, ensure FIFO policies on material inputs, ensure all SOP are being
    followed
  • Accurate inventory taking, reporting, and use planning
  • Must be willing/available after hours to respond to emergencies in the facility pertaining to power outages, equipment failure, etc.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in crew management
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in professional horticulture
  • Minimum A.S. degree in in agriculture or related field a plus
  • Experience with HACCP/GFSI a plus
  • Practical knowledge of MS Office 2007 applications
  • Some Spanish required
